Major Money-Saving Techniques

Have You Tried All of These Ideas to Save Money?

Matthew Schieltz
Have you ever been so broke that you couldn't even afford food for your dinner table? If you have then you probably figured out ways to save money and realized that there is literally no end to the corners that you can cut in order to save a little dough and possibly buy more food.

But if you are interested in saving a little money to put towards your savings, there are basically two things that you can do to make that piggy bank grow.

Make More Money

The first thing that you could do is to increase the amount of money that you take home each week and month. Of course this would entail getting a raise at your current job, right? It might involve that, but a more realistic thing to do if getting a raise isn't very possible is to get a second or part-time job. Maybe you only work 40 hours in a week and feel that's all you need to work.

But if you are working 40 hours per week and still cannot pay the bills, there is no rule on Earth that says working a 40 hours a week is the maximum amount you can work. Get a part time job at a local grocery store or bookstore. You can even get a part time job at department stores or fast food restaurants where they are always sure to need more hard-working employees!

Cut Your Expenses

If you are strapped for cash but really need groceries and everything else that is on your "needs" list, there is no end to the many ways that you can be creative to save some money.

Home Cooking - Instead of getting your lunch or dinner out at a restaurant, home cooking is less expensive. You can buy several meals, maybe even meals for a whole week, for no more than $50 if you are careful in picking the right grocery store. No, there is nothing wrong with shopping at Dollar General and Family Dollar if it is all you can afford- and sometimes they have excellent deals anyway!

Save On Clothing - You do not have to give up buying yourself clothes in order to save money. However, where you get your clothing is a different matter. Shop at Goodwill or thrift stores that usually have clothing marked way down, sometimes for pennies on the dollar!

Use Your Legs and Walk - If you live miles away from your place of employment than it is understandable if you must drive. But if you can walk to your job then by all means walk! Saving on gasoline for your car goes a long way to adding to the piggy bank. However, you can always walk to the grocery store or convenience store in your area instead of driving. Just remember that a little exercise never hurt anyone and you will be healthier for it!Of course, there is an unlimited number of ways that you can save money and this is by no means an exhausted list. But some of the principle ways that you can save money involve purchasing less expensive things, packing your lunch from home, and getting out to exercise instead of always driving your car! All it takes is a little brain power and creativity to find those hidden ways to save more money!
