Majority of Americans Losing Faith in Obama

A new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News shows that approximately 6 out of 10 voters are losing faith in President Obama. With an economy that is still struggling, a massive oil spill, sluggish job growth, problems in the housing industry, and an ongoing war in Afghanistan it would seem as if patience is running thin for American voters.

In the most recent poll only 43 percent of Americans approve of the president's efforts to stabilize the economy, including a third of Democrats. Furthermore, 58 percent of voters said they had "just some" or "no" confidence in the president's ability to make decisions concerning the country's future.

This new poll shows that the once rockstar president's approval rating is at a new low. This is an astonishing reversal of what voters thought of President Obama at the start of his presidency, 18 months ago. Back then 60% of Americans approved of the new president's ability to make decisions.

With Congressional elections quickly approaching, the poll also shed some light on what American voters think of their current representatives. According to the poll, 68 percent of Americans disapprove of the Democrats in Congress, while 72 percent share the same opinion about congressional Republicans. But perhaps the most important piece of information given the upcoming elections is that 62 percent of voters say they would not support their current representatives in November.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 36 seats in the Senate are up for grabs on November 2. With Democrats currently controlling both the House and the Senate one has to wonder how these elections are going to pan out.
