Joe Anuta reports 10 Clinton Hill-area crimes in the Brooklyn Paper's Police Blotter this week (Sept. 14 to 19). I'm not trying to put Joe out of a job or anything because I love his wit, but more than half (seven) of these crimes were avoidable. And I'm sorry to say the problem is mainly the ladies.

Clinton-Hill-area gals, wake up, please! Pay attention to your surroundings and stop giving thieves opportunities before somebody gets hurt.

This week's crimes break down as follows:

- Two muggings
- Six bag snatches
- One Blackberry goow5
- One theft of auto rims

The seven avoidable crimes were the six bags and the Blackberry boost.

Five bags were left by women in various places for thieves to swipe, including a restaurant and bar chair and a bicycle basket. One woman even left her bag with wallet in an "unlocked" car.

I've said this in other posts that perhaps some women haven't read, "Cross-body shoulder bags, ladies, and no valuables in your purses." Keep valuables in pockets, boots, bras, garters, etc. on your bods.

Why make life easy for these poor excuses for men who prey on women? Don't give 'em a flipping cent. We should be giving these degenerates shovels, brooms, dirty dishes or whatever it takes to get them off their thieving butts to do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay.

The Blackberry boost is a good lesson for us all. The woman whipped out her Blackberry too close to the train doors. The thief reached in and grabbed it just as the doors were closing and the train pulled away.

Luckily, no ladies were hurt during the commission of this week's crimes, but there's always next week if we're not more careful, gals.

Watching out for you, Clinton Hill, till next time.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit.  View profile
