Make Bally's Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi Your Next Stop!

Bally's, Where to Stay While You Play!

Mazy Keller
South of Memphis, Tennessee on Highway 61 in the little community of Tunica, Mississippi is Bally's Hotel and Casino, a true gem for the weary traveler. Tunica, Mississippi is full of hotel accommodations, as well as casinos and eating places, but Bally's has a charm all its own.

The number one reason this writer likes Bally's is the $19.95 room rate for a king sized, non-smoking room! How can you beat that? Bally's has been around for awhile at this location and it seems that this rustic hotel has appeal to a lot of return visitors. As I sat on the shuttle bus provided by the hotel and casino I listened to the stories of all the folks that always return to stay at Bally's,-- and realized that I am one of them.

Although not the newest of casino hotels in the Tunica area, Bally's is always clean and well maintained. Visitors can stay at other hotels, but probably not for the same reasonable price. The hotel provides a shuttle to the Bally's casino, and pick up is also available for shuttling to the other casinos, Hollywood, Horseshoe, etc. There is an outdoor pool with sundeck and hot tub with fresh towels provided poolside that the whole family can enjoy. Bally's is a family friendly hotel and the staff is always available to help direct guests to the outlying family/touristy things to do such as the water park, boat rides on the Mississippi, restaurants, directions to Memphis (everyone needs to see Graceland once!), and other local attractions.

There are three restaurants associated with Bally's, The Barn which makes a darn good steak, The Silo Eatery is known for their delicious burgers, and last but not least, the Cornucopia Buffet. This buffet won my heart years ago on my first trip to Tunica, Mississippi and still holds it tight! First off, the food is fresh, hot when it's supposed to be, and cold when it's supposed to be, never just moderately warm like some buffets. Second, the buffet changes constantly with the seasonal offerings and the choices are too great to count. I love this place. Thirdly, and perhaps the best amenity is related to the playing card that Bally's offers, (Resort Destination Club Card). Like every other casino there is a players card you can apply for (do this before you eat), and this card allows you to build up points to be used towards purchases, or points for comps on rooms and food. If you accrue only one point, -- yes, I said only one point, you are able to eat at the buffet for no further charge. Believe me; one point is easy to accrue if you spend anytime at all in a casino, and seems even easier at Bally's.

Accommodations can be viewed and reservations may be made on the Internet at ballystunica.com. There are King, Double and Suite rooms available. The suite is perfect for a family as there is a bedroom for mom and dad, generous seating area close to the big screen TV for all, and the couch is a sleeper sofa which is great for the kiddos.

This glitzy town offers much for vacation, i.e., swimming, gambling, eating, shopping, hiking or just hanging out, and this writer recommends Bally's as a "base-camp" to wind down in at night. The comfy beds, coffee pots and refrigerators make it feel like a home-away-from-home for all. The food is great and the Tunica, Mississippi atmosphere is one of partying as well as relaxing. So, whether for a day or a week head to Tunica and Bally's Hotel and Casino, you will enjoy yourself and soon find that you too are part of the returning Bally's crowd!
