Make Beauty Your Own Routine

I have found that you can read as many articles on beauty tips as you want, but when it comes right down to it each individual person will sooner or later come up with their own regiment that works for them. And what works for a while may not work as weeks, months or years go by.

I recently discovered a beauty store that I had not known about. Because of a "free gift with purchase" and a 20% off one item coupon I decided I would go check them out. I fell in love. I got a whole new makeup set with an under $20 purchase and since the day I shopped there I have been doing my makeup different every day. I find it liberating to be able to take on a different look each day.

But, another thing that I learned once I started doing my makeup every day again (I hadn't been because I work from home and go to school from home, so I don't have to get dressed and look good) I realized that my normal skin care routine is not up to par. In my laziness I have come to rely on one skin cleanser and I do not use toners or moisturizers. I have now found that I am really missing these products. What once worked for my beauty routine is not working anymore. Wearing makeup daily requires me to not just wash my face each morning, which was my original routine, now I need to wash my face at night too. Makeup can also be drying to your skin, so I really need to purchase a moisturizer.

Even when it is time to change your beauty routine it is not too hard to figure out what needs to change. If your hair is not glossy enough, manageable enough or your scalp is getting itchy then it is time to try a new shampoo and conditioner. If your face is getting dry or you are having breakouts, it is time to moisturize and tone, not just cleanse. If your makeup routine is starting to bore you then get some new makeup and go crazy! Pick a new eyeliner color, instead of basic black pick a color that will bring out your eye color.

A change in seasons can mean a great time for a beauty routine change too. Winter means we need more moisturizers for our skin, while spring and summer call for products that contain sunscreens and sunblocks. Summertime also means lighter makeup, tanning and shimmery beauty. Have fun with your beauty, it doesn't have to be a textbook look or routine!
