1. Will we be able to make it on one income? There may be some things or luxuries you have to cut back on or totally eliminate to make your dream possible, Are you both willing to live with them?
2. Will a work at home job help the transition? Look into some things you can do at home such as babysitting, or an internet job. Research how much you will need and what you can do to make the finances a little easier.
3.Does your husband or partner's job have adequate health insurance? If you had the better insurance, look into supplemental or additional coverage for the family. Maybe consider putting aside extra money to cover some expenses.
4.Have you and your partner or husband sat down and lined out exactly what you will be doing while at home? Sometimes the change to being a stay at home mom can be tough. It may take awhile to get a schedule going and being able to do all the multi-tasking required. Make sure everyones expectations are the same.
5. Do you have help and support? Consider joining a stay at home moms group or play group. Make sure you have fun and educational things to do with your kids, while being able to get advice from other stay at home moms. You will need help from others who are experiencing the same things you are.
Becoming a stay at home mom can be very rewarding. The job however, is not for every family, If you truly want to be a stay at home mom, with the right attitude and adjustments you can make your dreams come true!
