This is a great craft that adults, teens or even kids will enjoy doing. A crossword puzzle picture frame looks very unique, and it is a great gift idea for that crossword puzzle lover in your life.

This is a great project to do for that crossword puzzle lover in your life, or for someone who just loves puzzles. This is a picture frame that will look very one-of-a-kind for your friend or family member.

To make this puzzle you not only need a crossword puzzle, you need to take it to a copy center and have it enlarged, so it will cover the entire picture frame. Make life easy and bring the actual picture frame with you so that you get the right size. I could tell you to blow the crossword puzzle up by two hundred percent, but I don't know what size picture frame you are going to select, so I could be totally off base. So bring the picture frame with you and play with the copy machine until you get the crossword puzzle the same size as the picture frame.

You can find crossword puzzles in most major newspapers every single day. If you are unable to find a crossword puzzle in the newspaper that you like to read, there are many crossword puzzles online. The only challenge you may have is what the crossword puzzle looks like when it prints out. The New York Times has crossword puzzles online for example, and you could try printing out their puzzle. There are many other websites with crossword puzzles. Another idea would be to look for a book of crossword puzzles, you can find those at your drugstore or bookstore and they only cost a couple of dollars, they are in the magazine section.

For this project you will need:

a wide rimmed picture frame, ideally a wooden picture frame

a crossword puzzle that has not been done (pen ink will run when it is decoupaged)

a foam brush

decoupage glue, one type of glue I have used is called Modge Podge

Begin this project by laying out newspapers to protect the surface. Then lay out your other supplies.

Cut the crossword puzzle out and then put a layer of glue on the frame. This project goes very quickly. Look at the crossword puzzle and make sure it fits onto the frame, and cut out the middle part for the picture. Then put the crossword puzzle onto the picture frame. Add a thin layer of glue on to seal the frame. Then add an additional layer of glue.

Let the picture frame dry for several hours. The picture frame should not take very long to dry. Once it is dry, put your favorite photo in the frame and it is ready for gift giving!
