There is a free trial download available at Make-the-Cut.com which allows you to try the program before you buy. It has all the features of the full program and will allow you to cut with your Cricut cutter but it adds extra cuts to render your die cut useless.
Provo Craft has their own computer based Cricut software for cutting but it only works with your existing Cricut cartridges. You must buy each Cricut cartridge individually and also purchase the Design Studio software which is almost the price of an additional Cricut cartridge. Make the Cut is about the same price as one Cricut cartridge and allows you to die cut hundreds of fonts and images, many of which are free or can be purchased inexpensively.
Make the Cut has a WYSIWYG interface that appears to be user friendly. When you create on the virtual cutting mat you can align, resize, flip and rotate your graphics or letters. Once you have your images where you want them on the virtual mat, click on cut and your die cuts on the Cricut onto scrapbooking paper.
For new Cricut users who many not be familiar with how to make a SVG graphic you can open a graphic and quickly and easily convert them to SVG. Even images with layers can easily be converted for die cutting. There is also an option to weld, or join, images and letters together.
Make The Cut allows the user to die cut scrapbooking paper, vinyl, chipboard, thin plastic and other materials. The possibilities of what you can make are virtually endless. The personal crafter can create elaborate scrapbooks, wall quotes, screen print screens, and more. This new Cricut software is only limited by your imagination.
