Add These Critters to All Your Halloween Decor!

Lyn McCallister
This cute Halloween project will let kids be creative while keeping the treat focus off candy for a few minutes. Children can make these adorable little Halloween pom-pom spiders as a classroom project to take home for decorations or to hand out as treats.

Make a whole bunch of these little critters and decorate your front porch for the season.

Supplies Needed for Halloween Pom-Pom Spiders

Black pipe cleaners
1 inch black sparkly pom-poms
ΒΌ inch wiggly eyes
Hot glue gun
Scissors or wire cutters
Black embroidery floss or string (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions to Make Halloween Pom-Pom Spiders

Note: Help younger children by pre-cutting the black pipe cleaners. Do not let young children use hot glue as it may burn them.

1. Cut (8) individual 1 inch pieces from the black pipe cleaner for the spider legs.

2. Use the hot glue gun to adhere the legs to the black pom-pom.

3. Allow the legs to dry.

4. Bend the legs downwards at the halfway point.

5. Use the hot glue gun to adhere the eyes to the front of the black pom-pom.

6. Allow to dry.

7. Glue black embroidery floss to the top of the spider if you wish to hang it. Otherwise, your cute little spider is ready to be added to a trick-or-treat sack!

Creative and Fun Options for Halloween Pom-Pom Spiders

1. Use purple or green pipe cleaners for the legs instead of black pipe cleaners. Consider alternating the leg colors.

2. Use purple or green sparkly pom-poms with black pipe cleaners for legs.

3. Purchase colored wiggle eyes instead of plain ones.

4. Make these pom-pom spiders as Halloween cupcake toppers.

5. Drape your porch with cheesecake and cut random holes in the cloth. Add these little spiders randomly throughout your new web for a fun Halloween decoration.

6. Glue some spiders randomly to carved pumpkins for a creative accent.

7. Glue some spiders to existing Halloween porch decorations such as witches, scarecrows or ghosts.

8. Hang some spiders from your roof so that they dance in the wind on Halloween night.

9. Use these little spiders as part of a Halloween costume.

10. Add them as a decorative accent to your Halloween buffet. Write a card for each dish describing the ingredients and glue one spider to each card.

11. Make a large batch of spiders and give them as treats instead of candy.
