Make Dalmatian Dog Birthday Party Paper Goodie Bags

Lyn McCallister

If your child wants a Dalmatian dog themed birthday party this year, make these fun paper-crafted goodie bags instead of handing out plastic bags. The bags are so adorable and are sure to be a big hit among both boys and girls. These instructions use a Cricut machine and cartridges, but you can adapt them by using a different die cut machine or by finding pre-cut shapes at your local scrapbook supply store.

Supplies Per Dalmatian Dog Party Favor Bag

1 piece red cardstock, 8.5 x 11 inches

Scraps of white and black cardstock

Scrap of party themed cardstock

Trendy Twine

Red and blue ink pads

Yellow and red markers

Glue

Cricut machine

Plantin Schoolbook cartridge

Create a Critter cartridge

Favor bag goodies

Optional: Martha Stewart's scoring board and scrap of Dalmatian themed fabric

Step-by-Step Dalmatian Dog Party Goodie Bag Assembly Instructions

1. Use the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and cut a 7-inch bag from the red cardstock.

2. Use the optional scoring board and bone folder to make sharp creases in your bag.

Hint: It may be easier to assemble the decorations on the front of the bag before you glue it together.

3. Use the Create a Critter cartridge and cut a 2-inch Dalmatian from the black cardstock. Cut a 2-inch Dalmatian layer 1 from the white cardstock.

4. Glue the layer 1 white cardstock to the black cardstock to make the Dalmatian unit.

5. Cut a length of red Trendy Twine to form the dog's collar.

6. Glue the collar to the neck.

7. Use the red marker to draw a tongue.

8. Use the yellow marker to draw a heart-shaped dog tag.

9. Keep the Create a Critter cartridge in your machine and cut the snake layer 1 (balloon) in three sizes: 1.5 inches, 2 inches, and 2.5 inches from the party themed cardstock.

10. Use the red marker to write "thanks" on the largest balloon.

11. Cut two pieces of green twine and one piece of blue twine for the balloon strings.

12. Place all the pieces onto the front of the favor bag to check your placement before applying glue.

13. Apply glue for each balloon string and press the twine into the glue.

14. Apply glue to each balloon and place it over the top section of each piece of twine.

15. Apply glue to the completed Dalmatian dog and place it over the three pieces of twine.

16. Assemble the goodie bag by folding along the scored sections and gluing together.

17. Add party favors to the bag. In the example, I used a box of Crayola crayons and a small coloring book that I created. I added a small square of Dalmatian printed fabric for a cute accent.
