Are you making a big Christmas breakfast this year for your family. Christmas breakfast is one of the best meals to eat on Christmas day. You may over stuff yourself, but that's ok, you do not have to eat again until dinner time, so why not indulge? So, this year on Christmas morning wake your family up to the wonderful smell of sausage home style gravy cooking in the kitchen and a wonderful breakfast to fill their stomachs before they start unwrapping their gifts. You could even invite some friends over for this impressive Christmas morning breakfast. Here is a wonderful white sausage gravy recipe to serve up on Christmas morning with your sausage and biscuits.

INGREDIENTS:

Sausage grease

4 Tbls flour

Salt and pepper to taste

2 1/2 cups milk

BROWN SAUSAGE: First you will need to brown a pound of sausage in a frying pan on the stove top. Simply place a frying pan on medium heat and use a spatula or wooden spoon to break the sausage into small pieces. Continue to break up the sausage until it browns and is in crumbled pieces. Once the sausage is finished browning, drain off the grease with a colander into a bowl. Set the colander of sausage aside.

MAKE THE WHITE SAUSAGE GRAVY: Place 4 tablespoons of the sausage grease back into the frying pan. Add the 4 tablespoons of flour and salt and pepper to the grease and stir until it becomes smooth. Next, add the milk slowly as you stir the gravy until all of the ingredients are mixed in well. Continue to turn up the heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Be sure to constantly stir to prevent the gravy from sticking to the pan or having a burnt taste when it is finished. When the gravy reaches the consistency and thickness that you want, it is done. Once it is finished cooking you can stir in all or some of the ground sausage to make your white sausage gravy.

SERVE WHITE HOME STYLE SAUSAGE GRAVY: You can serve your white home style sausage gravy over warm biscuits fresh out of the oven. You could also serve up some bacon, fried steak, hash browns, or fresh fruit along side your biscuits and white sausage gravy for a mouth watering, delicious, Christmas morning breakfast that your family will love. Be careful because your family will want this huge, mouth watering breakfast again next year on Christmas morning.
