The True Problem of Information Overload, and a Solution to Fix It

DuoMaxwell
We're living in the Information Age, and information is just as abundant and overflowing as a millionaire's or billionaire's bank account. The Internet and the World Wide Web became a vast superlibrary for everyone of any and all ages to check out virtual books, articles and other information, some for free, and some for a fee. Some people are saying the pen and paper is going the way of the Dodos, and some are saying that pen and paper is here to stay in the age of the popular electronic book format.

However, there is a problem that some people have when it comes to certain forms of information that some people can't learn from these books, in paper or in pixels. It's called information overload, and it's caused by too much information being crammed, voluntarily or involuntarily, to the reader. There are many types of suspects that contribute to information overload, but at this time, there is one to focus on clearly: books and ebooks that are the size and weight of bricks.

These types contain pages of information from 100 to over 1000 pages. With these types of books and ebooks, it's like trying to bite off more than you can even chew when you try to read these types of literature in any categories. No, it's trying to eat a full-pound cheeseburger sandwich in one gulp! No one can intake a whole lot of information in a humongous 100-to-1000-page book! It's not even possible! One would suffer burnout just as easily as working and slaving away at a job for peanuts shaped in the form and color of copper Lincolns.

But, there is more than one way to shrink overcomplex, 1000-page books and ebooks into bite-sized, easy to swallow simple mini-books in a collection, and this is an idea that I had since i've downloaded many ebooks over the years and had textbooks that were useful ever since college.

-The focal point of this method for all books, in paper books or pixel books, is the KISS method: Keep It Short and Simple!

-Don't use technical, complex words that are hard to understand to the reader. The author may know rocket science, but the regular reader isn't. Therefore save the complex terms and words to your specific audience, but keep it simple, short, to the point and easy-to-understand for the layman reader.

-Bring some fun into your writing. Spice it up a bit! Bring your writing to life! No author of any genre likes to write something so drab and so monotone that it becomes something for medical pharmacies to prescribe to those who have sleep apnea or insomnia!

-When you write books with a pen and a sheet of paper, a typewriter or a computer with a printer, make sure that you keep a cluster of chapters no more than the limit of 5 to 10. If you have to write chapters up to 10, when you get to your limit, compile your chapters and then create part 1 of your book. For every set of chapters compiled, turn them into singular parts of your book. That way they'll be bite-sized and easier to understand

-If you type your books in PDF format since they're the most popular format of ebooks, then do the same thing as the aforementioned tip, but divide them into different PDF parts, and then store them in a .ZIP file. Those act as virtual book-holders, and it's the reader's choice whether or not (s)he wants to unzip or unpack the contents. The shorter the books are, the more easier the reader can understand them.
-No thin fonts. It won't matter if it's written or typed, but whatever you do, the book has to be readable, so no thin, stringy fonts!

-No letters should be the size of a speck of sand, nor should they be crumb-sized. Don't give the reader eye strain that will make them blind in the future. Easy-to-read letters should be the right size without making the reader pull the book closer and closer until his/her nose is literally in the book! If you have a computer and word processing software like Wordpad or Microsoft Word, then do these directions:
-Highlight the text

-Go the the font size dropdown box, the one with the number (default number is 10)

-Click on the arrow for a selection of sizes up to 72

-Input a number in between 20 and 30. There's no need to fill up the page with 5-10 gigantic words.

-Press enter

-When you've created your PDF, put them in a ZIP file to compress them; rename the ZIP file to your ebook title, and how many PDFs its divided to.

-After that, place all of the singular ZIP files with the PDF files inside into a main ZIP file, and rename the title with the title of your ebook, and how many chapters it has

This should simplify things a little bit more. When you break books into bite-sized pieces for people to read and assimilate easily, you're keeping the readers full without making them get headaches from being so hard to understand. So just remember to keep it simple, short, easy-to-read, and keeping them awake to learn more from your books.
