Make Every Day Random Acts of Kindness Day - You Will Be Happier!

Random Acts of Kindness Day is Doing Nice Things for Other People, but it Can Make You Happier Too!

Roz Zurko
Random Acts of Kindness Day. It is a feel good thing when you do a random act of kindness, even though that is not why you are suppose to be doing it. A random act of kindness should be a selfless act by you to assist or cheer up someone, anyone. You can do your random acts of kindness to people you know or to a total stranger.

The random acts of kindness should be done with nothing that you have to gain in mind. For no reason other than to make someone else feel good. When you do a random act of kindness, it is hard not to feel good. When you put a smile on someone's face or they are happy for just an instance because of something you did, it does make you happy too.

Random acts of kindness can be spontaneous or planned, either way it doesn't matter, as long as you are doing it for no personal gain. Here are some ideas for a simple random act of kindness that you can do today:

*Let the person in back of you in the grocery line go ahead of you. This is especially a random act of kindness if the person is elderly or a young mother with a bunch of kids who can't wait to get out of the store.

*While in line in the grocery store, you see that someone has an item that you have a coupon for, give them the coupon. This will bring a smile to anyone's face.

*When you are going to grab a grocery cart in the store, hand it to the person that is waiting to take one, then grab yourself another one. Small random act of kindness, but it feels good.

*When at a store that you frequent, let one of the cashiers that you see often how much you appreciate their efficient work. Tell them how pleasant they always are and how nice it is to see them for that reason. If there is someone that is especially nice, tell their manager how much you appreciate them and how they are an asset to their business.

*When dealing with the cable, phone, gas, credit card, or any other company that you may need to call for a problem or update, if the employee has been especially helpful, ask to speak to the supervisor. Tell the supervisor how helpful the person was. This goes a long way for the employee, especially if it is a big company. The compliments get put in their employee file and can be helpful when promotions or raises are in line.

*I know morning coffee is no longer an inexpensive luxury, but if you can afford to, pay for the person behind you in line at the coffee shop. The same goes for the tolls on the highway, pay for the car behind you.

There are so many things that you can do as a random act of kindness, things that won't take a minute out of you day to make someone else feel good. People that practice doing random acts of kindness on a daily basis not only make the world a better place, but they are happier people!

If we are able to be kind randomly, why not behave kindly all the time. There should be nothing random about the decision to be kind.

Take a look at the new book THE SEEDS WE SOW, KINDNESS THAT FED A HUNGRY WORLD.

    Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, etc.

Great post. It is so easy to make someone's day. I started a year long commitment to altruistic giving on December 15th: www.yearofgiving.org. Every day I give someone I don't know $10. I know there are much better things you can do for others that are free, however, I was interested in society's response to someone offering to give them a small, but not completely insignificant amount of money. Most people think that there is a catch...but there is not. They can do whatever they wish with the $10. Check out the blog if you are interested in reading the stories about those who have received my $10 so far.

If everyone would just live by the simple concept of treating others the way you want to be treated, it would be a happy world. Good article!

My children do this as well. There is no reason to not help people out. The nice thing is that it rubs off, and other people end up performing their own acts of kindness.

I have trained my children to perform random acts of kindness. My youngest however is the best one at this. Great article.
