A make up artist there asked me what I was looking for and recommended that I try using the Make Up Forever Lipstick in Pearly Violet Pink 303 and then one of their dark purple lip pencils for the color that I wanted. She made up my lips in the store and she created the color that I was looking for but I decided that I really liked the Pearly shade by itself more so I bought a tube of it for $19.
Make Up Forever Lipsticks come in a sleek black tube. It has a c-thru space that connects the base to the lid where you can see the color of each lipstick. The Pearly Violet Pink shade looks like a rose pink shade with purple tones.
When I tried it on at home later the Pearly 303 shade looked the same way it does in the tube on my lips. I'm African American and my lips have pink and brown tones so sometimes lipsticks can look different on me than what I expect, so I liked that the Make Up Forever lipstick looked true to the color.
Pearly 303 is quite saturated so I only needed a light coat of it to get the shade I wanted. I think that color is a really wearable shade for me. I've tried other pinky/purple lipsticks and they can wind up looking chalky against my brown skin.
But Pearly Violet Pink 303 has more pink than purple in it so it compliments my skin and looks like a deep pink. It's a shade that I haven't worn before but I do like it, because it's soft and pretty and I think it'd be a perfect color for me to wear this spring.
Besides the shade though, I also liked the texture of the Make Up Forever Lipstick itself. It felt creamy and soft when I put it on, but the color still adhered to my lips fast. And once it was on the lipstick felt really light and silky as if I had nothing on them.
My only issues with the lipstick is that I wish it had a little bit more purple in it, and that the color didn't wear off after a couple of hours. But besides that I'm happy with this lipstick and I'll be purchasing more by Make Up Forever in the future.
I would recommend Pearly Violet Pink 303 to women with dark skin that are looking for a flattering deep pink lipstick. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
