If you are looking for a really modern and unique centerpiece to use for your wedding reception, this is the article for you. This fruit and flower centerpiece is easy to design and very easy on the budget as well. This idea will be the center of your wedding reception, not only on the tables but in coversation as well. Everyone will love how elegant, yet dramatic this piece looks. Here's how to get started.

ITEMS YOU WILL NEED:

First you will need a fruit of your choice. Choose a round fruit that is colorful, like oranges, limes, lemons, or apples. You will want to make sure that the color of your fruit contrasts with the color of your flowers. For instance, if you are using red roses in this centerpiece, you might want to go with oranges rather than apples. The oranges do look very nice with red, if you are wondering.

Next, you will need to get your live flowers. Get these the day of or before the wedding reception, so that they are not too wilted to be displayed for the party. Get large flat square platters also, they should have a little lip on the edge of them to keep the fruit all together. You will also need to get little water tubes for your flowers, the green kind that florists use to stick on the end of each individual flower, so that they do not wilt earlier than they should.

DESIGN THE CENTERPIECES:

First, place your square platters with a lip on the tables where you want them to stay. Next, simply line the fruit up in rows inside of the platters. Then you can cut each of the flowers down so that they are the same height or shorter than the fruit, make sure to leave a little stem to be able to place into your water tubes. Cut the ends of the flowers at an angle so that they can get more water and nutrients.

Now, place each flower into it's own individual water tube. Now simply place the flowers down in between the fruits. For example, where four fruits come together, stick one of the water tubes with a flower in it down into that space. That's all there is to this simple, yet dramatic wedding centerpiece.
