Ever want to express your love on Valentine's Day...in a big way? Why not make a Valentine's Day card that is a big as that love? This is a great project that children will have lots of fun with. Why not make a giant Valentine's Day card for their parents or grandparents?

Here are some ideas to make a giant Valentine's Day card. Surprise your child or sweetie with a giant Valentine on February 14th.

To make this project you will need:

two pieces of poster board in the same color - try red, pink or white

construction paper

optional: handmade papers (some handmade papers can be very pretty and still inexpensive)

gift wrap paper (gift wrap paper has pretty patterns and is great for cardmaking)

rubber stamps

glitter or glitter pens

scissors

glue pen or glue

markers or crayons

optional: photos

There are so many things that you can do with this project. Begin by deciding the message of your card. Do you just want to write "Happy Valentine's Day"? Or do you want to write another type of message? Perhaps write down the message on a piece of scrappaper and get some ideas about the type of card you want to make.

To make the card, staple the two pieces of construction paper together. A nice touch is to gift wrap the card, making an envelope of sorts, so the recipient cannot see the card just before they open it. This keeps up an element of surprise.

A great idea is to include photos in the card you are making. You can cut out hearts out of paper and put the photos in the hearts. The special person you are giving this to is sure to enjoy this type of card. You can even make a collage of photos in this type of card, and write a story about what has happened over the past year that has made this person so special in your life, or in the child's life.

Or if a child is giving this card, they can draw a picture or even write a message using the crayons and markers. You can have them write a message on another piece of paper and then glue it into the card. If several children are writing messages in a large family, give everyone a smaller piece of paper to draw or write on and then glue them in all next to each other.

Handmade papers are also a great way to make this card look special. Some handmade papers are expensive, but others you can get for two or three dollars a sheet and they have flower petals and other pretty things in the paper, that are perfect for Valentine's day. You can find handmade papers at most large art stores. Cut a design out of the handmade paper or cut a large Valentine out of the handmade paper and glue it into the card.

There are so many ideas with this giant card once your creative juices get to flowing. Just start to brainstorm and you will come up with the perfect card. Happy Valentine's Day!
