Make Your Halloween Cupcakes a Little Creepier with Wilton's "Bones Sprinkles"

Miss Fortune
Wilton never ceases to amaze me with some of their seasonal products. When I saw the Halloween Bones Sprinkles at the website I knew I had to get them; they could be used for so many different things that I started hunting for them. I finally found them at a local cake decorating store that sold them for about a dollar more than the $4.09 that the website had them priced at. Even so, it was worth it and I had a blast trying them out when decorating cupcakes. I'm still trying to figure out how I can use these on Dog Bone Cookies without going overboard on the theme.

This is a 3.53 ounce container of edible bone shaped sprinkles. They are all the same shape and size which was a little disappointing but even so, how many times do you come across something that looks this cool and can be used for so many Halloween themes. One thing I really wanted to do with these was to use a spray-on sealer and use them for crafts. They looked great on clear acrylic photo frames I made last year but were missing 'something'. These are small enough that you can use them as accent pieces but defined enough that you can tell they are indeed bones.

Every year I make a huge graveyard cake and always get stuck when trying to find something edible to use within the scene; this year that won't be a problem thanks to these! There are a lot of these in the container but they are a seasonal item so if you plan on using these for a lot of treats you may want to get two of them to be on the safe side. They will look perfect pressed into frosting or icing as well as on cookies that have a royal icing on them. I experimented with black royal icing and pressing the bones in to it and they looked sweet. You have to make sure you don't press them too far in to the frosting or they will get sucked into it and you won't see them.
