Make Halloween Yours

What kind of Halloween would you like to have? Although it can be, the holiday does not have to be all about getting scared yourself, or scaring someone else. You can make Halloween into anything you want.

Make Halloween for Little Kids

So that little kids are not scared, make Halloween cute and cuddly for them. You can have jack-o-lanterns but carve silly faces or grab a pattern for their favorite cartoon characters. Find props and decorations that are more like a giant stuffed skeleton that small plastic spiders, or a wear a witches hat over a scary mask. You may also want to leave all the lights on when you make Halloween for little kids so they do not have to be scared of what may be hiding in the corners.

Make Halloween for Trick-or-Treaters

You may no longer have children in your home, or you may not have started to have them yet, but this doesn't mean you can't make Halloween just for the trick-or-treaters.

Make sure your porch light is on and bright enough for children to be able to see their way to your door. Decorate your entry both inside and outside of your door to help set the mood of the holiday. Another treat for trick-or-treaters is if you dress in costumes as well. Answer the door as a witch, a ghost, or a pirate to give out candy.

Make Halloween for Teens

You can make Halloween fun for teenagers, even when the party is chaperoned. Dim the lights for the party but use Christmas light to brighten any area that may seem too dark and enticing. Create a candy buffet with candy of course, other snacks, and drinks. Allow the kids to pick and play whatever music they would like.

You do not have to spend the entire evening staring at the teenagers but do make unannounced visits to check the food and make sure everyone is acting appropriately.

Make Halloween Scary

We do associate Halloween with being scared to go ahead and make it scary! Play a few practical jokes by jumping out at your siblings or leaving a fake spider in the toe of someone's shoe.

Make the entry to your home scary by turning the lights out so the entrance is completely dark and make your guests walk through hanging bones or having them reach in a dark box without knowing what is inside of it. Watch scary movies with all the lights off or head to the nearest haunted house to truly make Halloween scary.
