Make Ham or Turkey Chowder from Holiday Leftovers!
A Mouth-Watering Recipe for Chowder Made with Turkey Day or Christmas Leftovers
The ingredients for this recipe include:
1 1/2 cups of water
2 cups cubed, cooked potatoes
2 cups of carrot pieces
1 cup of celery pieces
a 10oz can of broccoli cheese soup
a 15oz of cream-style corn
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 1/2 cups of diced, cooked ham
black pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions:
(1) Place water, potatoes, carrots, and celery in the pot.
(2) Cook the vegetables on medium-high heat until they boil.
(3) Now immediately lower the temperature to low heat and cover.
(4) Cook for about 10 minutes.
(5) Add the cream-style corn and broccoli cheese soup to the pot.
(6) Now stir in the milk, ham, and add a pinch of pepper to taste.
(7) Place cover back on the pot and continue cooking on low heat. (Note: You do not want the chowder to boil.)
(8) When the chowder is hot, it is ready to serve.
This recipe is extremely easy to make, and it is very tasty. You can always make this chowder with any meat or a combination of meats and vegetables. You can also use frozen vegetables, canned vegetables, or even add more of your own favorite vegetables to the mix.
Like I said earlier, holiday meals are an excellent way to get rid of leftover slices of ham or turkey and leftover potatoes and vegetables. Sure leftovers are good to re-heat the next day, but after awhile, it gets old and tiring. When it's time for something new, you can still eat those holiday foods taking up space in the refrigerator by making this chowder from them!
This particular ham chowder recipe takes about 30-40 minutes to prepare and cook. Get rid of those leftovers by serving this chowder with crackers or rolls for a warming dinner dish on a cold winter's day.
