Homemade Christmas Gift Tags - Decoupage Vintage Christmas Gift Tags Ideas

To create vintage Christmas gift tags, you will need cardstock in various holiday colors. A variety of vintage color prints, scissors, double stick tape, paper punch, ribbon and a permanent marker. Begin with your card stock. The card stock will serve as the backing for your homemade Christmas gift tags. For smaller gifts, use card stock cut to 2" x 3". For larger packages, consider using larger Christmas gift tags.

Using the paper punch, punch a hole in the top center of the homemade Christmas gift tags. Select the vintage artwork you would like to use on the tag and attach with double stick tape. Use your permanent marker to write a personal message. Use ribbon to tie the tag to the gift.

Make Homemade Christmas Gift Tags that Double as Ornaments

A great way to add even more value to the gifts you give this holiday season is making Christmas gift tags that also serve as ornaments for decorating the tree. To make these unique Christmas gift tags, you will need black poster board or foam board, scissors or crafting knife, floral wire, thin nail or small paper punch, decoupage glue, color prints of family photos or artwork, ribbon and silver permanent marker. Use a color printer and scanner to reduce the size of the images so they will fit on your homemade Christmas gift tags.

The black poster board will serve as a background for these unique Christmas gift tags. Cut the poster board into a square, circle or rectangle slightly larger than the artwork or photograph you will be using. Use decoupage glue like Mod Podge, to adhere the image to the poster board. Cover the image completely to give it a lasting protection. Let dry. Use a small finishing nail or other small sharp object to poke two small holes in the top of each side of the poster board. These holes will be used to place the floral wire through. Cut floral wire so it is long enough to fit through the holes in the top of the ornament and leave enough hanging space so the ornament can hang on a tree. On the back of the ornament use a silver or other light colored permanent marker to add your gift message. Secure to the gift with ribbon.

Quick and Easy Homemade Christmas Gift Tags - Use Large Precut Sale Tags

If you don't have much time, but still want to add a personal touch to the gifts you'll give this holiday season, consider working with pre-cut tags found at most craft or office supply stores. The precut tags will serve as a base for you to create easy homemade Christmas gift tags. You will also need decorative cardstock or old Christmas cards, glue, buttons or brads, ribbon, scissors, permanent marker and scissors.

Use the precut sales tag as your background. Add decorative details by adding decorations from old Christmas cards or decorative card stock to create an original design on the Christmas gift tags. Use glue to stick the decoration in place. Buttons or brads can be added to add additional details. Use ribbon to tie the tag onto the gift and add your personal message to the Christmas gift tags.

With a little creativity and imagination, you can create one of a kind homemade Christmas gift tags for the gifts you give this holiday season.
