Some of the best weekend escapes are those in found in other states, so it would seem. That is always so. Half of these beautiful and exhilarating trips and escapes can be found in cities and towns in your own state! One of these awesome cities is Lake Tahoe, California.

Lake Tahoe posses a multitude of activities, resorts, family oriented events, and places to where you feel all the luxuries of a sultan or queen. There are climbing events and casinos for all those who want to live on the wild side of gambling located just over the border of Nevada. Lake Tahoe is the main attraction itself by far. Surrounded by gigantic mountains and the crisp clean waters of the lake, it will definitely be the jewel in your eyes as it is for the local residents.

On the west side of Lake Tahoe, the area is mainly privately owned, but the beaches and dining establishments are always free and open to the public. They have been for the many vacationers over the decades. You can rent a boat and even doze off on this luxurious beach for a day. The neighboring Truckee River is a great spot for catching that ever evasive fish or even rafting. Once the sun goes down the events don't stop their, in fact, they become ever more surprising. The nighttime activities and shops of Tahoe City are a hot spot for both the vacationing people and the locals. The casinos and clubs often are roaring with exciting people and conversations.

The north side of Lake Tahoe offers more peaceful scenery and gets you away from the most frequent traffic and noises. Like the west side of the lake, the northern side still offers beaches, casinos, and restaurants. They are more scattered and fewer in numbers compared to the other parts, but they are prized as the best in the region. The logger town of is located here as well as the place where many miners would stay. Sprawling meadows and mountains prevail here and many prefer to stay at this part due to the magnificent resorts offered at winter time.

South Lake Tahoe is full of the exploding and extravagant neon lights of the casinos. Recently redesigned, Southern Lake Tahoe now has many new and extravagant resorts and hotels. They have recently developed a gondola that will carry people from the dazzling town to the mountain tops nearby. Close to other nearby cities, a new airport has been manufactured to service people who wish to take a short trip by air or by motor cab. The cab drive will take less than an hour and a half from Reno to the shore. The airstrip can take you too many places like Vegas and even Los Angeles. Casinos and resorts run end to end along the lakeside.

On the east side of Lake Tahoe, California has lined it with multiple cities but not very far out. Once you leave the lights and noises behind, the east side is largely underdeveloped. History of the emigrant transportation if found here as well as historical parks, bridges, mines, and recreation areas. Rocky coves, breaches and forests are the makeup of the east side and are a great way to relax and feel as if you are in a foreign country.

No matter what side you visit of Lake Tahoe you are assured to get an experience that will last for years in both memories and tales. Bring your children or just that significant lover, either way the time and money spent will be well worth it and you'll get more than you bargained for.
