Make Your Lips Kissably Soft with Grapeseed Lip Butter from the Body Shop

Pucker Up, Baby

Being the type who loves trying new things, and also being obsessed with sets, I had to of course pick up a cute little tub the Grapeseed Lip Butter on my recent grapeseed extravaganza at the local Body Shop store. It was, after all, 2 for 10 bucks. How could I resist?

I simply adore the Grapeseed Shower Gel, and am quite satisfied with the Body Butter of the same scent. I was not, however, immediately thrilled with the Lip Butter. Honestly, I didn't like the Shea Lip Butter I purchased the same day either though... so it very likely I just don't happen to like lip butters in general. These were the first two I'd ever tried. I mean I just hated them both at first.

Lip Butters seem to come in little tubs which are just adorable. Just screw off the top and get a dab on your finger, then wipe it onto your lips. I am not sure what I was expecting when I did this, but I didn't like the feel of it on my lips at all. It is the consistency of like a very thick body butter, or well actually like a tube of lip balm. But I like lip balms for the most part... eh.. yeah. OK, the thing is that this just feels tacky on my lips. You know, my lips kinda tend to stick together when I have the lip butter on them, but they don't do this when I use a lip balm. Odd. But there ya have it.

The Body Shop Sez:
Let love loose on your lips with this blissful blend of grapeseed oil, Vitamin E, Shea butter, and beeswax.

The main ingredient is of course the grapeseed oil, which is a restorative agent to the moisture barrier on your skin (or lips in this case.) Shea is very hydrating, with the added benefit of softening. The Beeswax is organic, and helps to lock in all that moisture from the first two items and is found in the vast majority of lip balms, too. The Vitamin E is an excellent conditioner and additional protection against dryness.

Sounds quite lovely on paper, dunnit? Honestly, it is quite lovely... if you can get past that feeling of your lips sticking together while you wear it. I can't. I began to use it while sitting at my computer just for the heck of it, and it did in fact made my lips softer after a week of this. Still. It just felt icky, damn it.

And then brilliance struck in the form of a friend. We were discussing various beauty products when I mentioned the lip butters to her. She nodded and grinned, then suggested putting it on at night before bed. Say what? Oh yes. Yes indeedy. I should have thought of that one myself. I'll tell you what folks, after using it at night and letting it work its magic while I sleep and cannot feel the tackiness of it, I have gone out and purchased tons of the lip butters in various flavors. It makes lips soooo utterly soft and kissable. My friend, she is a bloody genius.

As far as scent goes, this Grapeseed Lip Butter does have the same wonderfully refreshing scent as other items in the Grapeseed line, but it doesn't have any taste to speak of past the initial green-grapey taste, which lasts maybe 1 to 2 seconds after application.

So. It does what it says it will do. If your lips happen to be dry and cracking, then I would recommend this to you in a heartbeat, but if your lips are normal and you are like me and can't stand that goopy feeling on your mouth then just use the Lip Butter line at night. You can thank me in the morning.

Sounds great. I have a cold and it has dried my lips out horribly. Wish I had some now.
