Step-by-Step Instructions to Make Mickey Mouse Vampire Pumpkins
Tip: I found my Mickey Mouse template by searching Google using the terms "mickey mouse vampire." Once you find an image that you like, size it to fit your little pumpkin and print it out. Most Jack Be Little pumpkins are approximately 2 inches tall by 3 inches wide.Use the article photo as a reference.
- Use the paper and pencil to trace the components of the Mickey Mouse template. Trace the face, hands, inside jacket pieces, tie, shirt, and cumber bund.
- Trace the entire template onto the black paper. This will be the Mickey Mouse vampire silhouette and foundation piece. Tip: It may be easier to reverse the template and draw it on the backside of the black paper so you can see your drawing lines.
- Cut the silhouette using scissors.
- Trace each component onto the appropriate piece of paper. The face should use the peach paper, the shirt and hands should use white paper, the tie and cumber bund should use red paper, and the inside jacket pieces should use the spider web paper.
- Cut out each component.
- Glue each component to the black silhouette, following the example in the article photo. Allow to dry completely.
- Take the black fine-tip pen and draw in the accents. Draw Mickey's facial features and fingers.
- Apply a thin layer of glue to the remaining exposed pieces of black paper. This paper represents the outer portion of Mickey's vampire jacket as well as part of Mickey himself.
- Apply the black onyx glitter to the adhesive while it is still wet. Tap off the excess glitter and allow to dry completely.
- Take the black pipe cleaner and bend it in half. Wrap it twice around the stem and twist the ends so that they point upwards. Glue in place.
- Bend the two ends of the pipe cleaner back about ½ inch at the top. The pipe cleaner ends should still be pointing upwards from the pumpkin.
- Apply adhesive to the bend ends of the pipe cleaner and gently press the wrong side of the completed Mickey Mouse vampire into the adhesive. You may need to hold it down for a minute or two. Allow to dry completely. Tip: If your adhesive isn't strong enough to hold Mickey to the pipe cleaner, use a hot glue gun instead.
- Find a ghost pattern and bat pattern by searching online or drawing them freehand. You can also use your Cricut or other die-cutting machine, if available. Make sure the ghost and bat are smaller than Mickey.
- Cut one ghost from white paper.
- Apply gray ink to the edges of the ghost and draw 2 eyes and a mouth with the black pen.
- Cut two bats from black paper, one slightly larger than the other.
- Use the adhesive to fill in the bat bodies and along the wings as shown in the article photo.
- Apply the purple glitter to the adhesive and tap off the excess glitter. Allow to dry.
- Glue 2 green rhinestones to each bat for eyes.
- Cut 2 pieces, approximately 8 inches long, from the 26 gauge black wire.
- Wrap the upper part around a pencil to spiral it.
- Glue one end of 1 piece of wire to the back of the ghost. Tip: You can use adhesive foam squares to adhere the wire instead of the glue to make it easier.
- Glue the other end of the wire to the back of Mickey's right hand.
- Glue the other piece of wire to the 2 bats. One bat should be at the end of the wire and the other bat should be an inch down.
- Glue the other end of the wire to the back of Mickey's left ear.
- Tweak the positioning of the bats and ghost by gently bending the wire.
- Optional: Use a permanent black marker and write "Happy Halloween" on the front of the pumpkin.
Once your vampire Mickey Mouse pumpkin decoration is complete, you can add it to your Halloween décor in your home or office. Another great idea is to make one as a teacher gift. Have fun with this project and experiment with different papers and embellishments!
