Make Mom a Personal Gift Basket for Mothers Day

Pearlygates
A basket filled with moms favorites can be a great gift to make her for Mothers Day. There is something about making a personalized gift that lets her know how much you care.

Making a personalized gift basket is not hard to do; it can actually be quite fun in finding all the special items that you would like to fill the basket with. Of course it doesn't even actually have to be a basket. Just pick out a theme for mom and let your imagination go wild. The price range is up to you. Here are a few ideas to help make mom that special gift basket.

If mom enjoys lounging in the evening, why not make her a pajama gift basket. You can put in a cozy pair of pajamas or nightie and maybe a pair of slippers. Add a book or magazine, maybe a subscription to her favorite magazine and a crossword or jigsaw puzzle. You can put in a box of Chamomile tea, a good night cream and a bottle of Lavender linen spray.

For the gardener get a large planter, clay pot, watering can or garden basket. Inside you can put items like garden gloves, clogs, garden tools, seeds, plant markers, garden scissors, knee pad, visor, a water bottle and some hand lotion. A gift card to her favorite nursery would be a nice idea for those new spring plants.

For the mom that eats out a lot, a cute idea is to buy a small basket and put in some pretty shredded paper. Take one of the photo holders that you put in a wallet and put a gift card to a different restaurant in each pocket. Put this in the basket and add a little more shredded paper.

For the crafter you can get a tote bag or supply box to use as a gift basket. Put in needed craft supplies for what she enjoys such as scrap booking, knitting or beading. Add a craft book and a gift card to her favorite craft store.

For the cook a nice wok or colander would work well. Put in a cookbook, recipe card holder, some recipe cards and an apron. You could add a cutting board, set of utility knives, whisk or trivet. Some different spices are always appreciated by a cook.

A chocolate lover would love some gourmet chocolates, put in a fondue pot. You would want some chocolates for melting; also add fudge, truffles, chocolate covered pretzels and nuts. You could put in a mom cup with a few packs of gourmet hot cocoa.

For the golfer you can take a basket or small little cooler and fill it with golf balls and tees, golf club head covers, golf t-shirt or polo, a visor or water bottle. You could add a desk top golf game and some chocolate golf balls.

For the wine lover buy a wine chiller and fill with cork screw, wine stopper, and wine glass charms. Put in a wine assortment sampler or her favorite bottle of wine, and some cheese and crackers.

Of course we always have the luxury bath and body gift basket. What woman doesn't like to pamper herself? Buy a nice basket and line with the softest towel you can find. Put in some body wash, gel, lotion and a pretty bottle of bubble bath. Scented candles are nice and maybe even a relaxation CD.

To put your mother's day gift basket together it is easiest to use shredded paper or tissue paper in the basket, to get the items to stay where you want. When trying to get items to stay, you can use the handle of a wooden spoon to push paper against the items.
Wrap the whole basket in tulle or decorative cellophane wrap. Set the basket in the middle of the material and pull the ends up together and gather. Put a rubber band over to secure while you tie a bow or ribbon on.

My Mom makes baskets so I don't think she would want another. Maybe I will put the items in a fancy bowl. Thanks for the idea.

Love this idea. I apologize that I'm behind in reading, though. I just got out of the hospital and I'm catching up very slowly.
