These studies are not going to have you or your partner on video having sex or anything of that nature. You also will not be in a room with scientist and researchers on the other side of a window watching you have sex. So with that said, don't be scared and get started being a sex guinea pig today.
One of the studies that I came across is a study for couples to test out a birth control gel as their only method of birth control for 7 months. The study was being done by the CA Family Health Council and would pay the couple $475. Both partners are to attend the first study visit together where they would both learn more about the study that was being conducted. After the first study visit, the female partner was then required to attend three more visits in which she would receive a gynecological exam. Also the female partner was required to call in for a 15 minute phone interview each month.
This doesn't seem like a bad idea, or to difficult for $475. The only downside to this is if the birth control gel in question does not work. Then I am not so sure if $475 is enough compensation for winding up pregnant.
The Boston Medical Center is looking for men ages 21 to 50 to take part in their study. What they are studying is the male hormone testosterone and the effects of two naturally occurring forms of testosterone. The study will give men two different combinations of medication for 20 weeks that are hormone related. Measurements before, during and after the medication will be taken to look for changes in the balance of muscle, sexual function and other aspects of health. Compensation for this 20 week study is $1,000.
The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is recruiting couples for a new study that is investigating markers for sexual activity. The requirements are that you have been in a heterosexual relationship for at least one year. Compensation is showing for $600. They did not offer too much information on this but did provide a phone number you can call for more information.
