Make Money from Cemetery Tours

Jane Benitez
You would be amazed to hear that some people actually have lots of interest in cemeteries. They are fascinated by the stories of the deceased, and some collect dust and broken pieces of headstones as souvenirs. So if you have an interest in being a guide, and if you enjoy communicating with people, you can use this idea to become a graveyard tour guide for people. This could be an interesting adventure.

Of course, this business wouldn't flourish if you don't have a significant cemetery near your area. You would also need permission from the administrators of the cemetery to take up this business. This job will require you to research stories of the deceased people and memorize them. You will then need to tell these stories impressively. This could be a profitable business if there are many tourists visiting your area, because they would love to experience anything new and exciting.

Your tour could be around 2 hours. Anything above that and your customers will start losing interest and energy. You should also provide accommodation for disabled people or those who can't walk for a long time by reducing the tour to one hour. Depending on your expertise at handling people, you can take about 10 people at a time and charge what you feel is reasonable for your area. If you have a very significant cemetery to offer tours in, you can even offer different types of tours. For instance, your tours could focus on famous politicians or war veterans, and so on. So you see, these things are not fixed. If you live in a famous cemetery, then it's all the better for you. If you do have diverse tours, then you may get lots of people returning for more stories from you.

To successfully impress people, you must have a simple and pleasant way of conversing with people. Make it enjoyable for the tourists. Don't just drone on about what a famous politician did, feel the moment and make your audience feel for the character. If you aren't too confident about yourself, you can buy books on speaking lessons.

When you are ready to start, advertise your services through travel agencies, as tourists will be your focused customers. You may also consider printing up pamphlets of your business which will include all the nice details about your tour and your contact information; you can distribute these pamphlets in hotels or motels where tourists usually lodge. If a town near you is famous for tourists, don't hesitate to drive there and leave your pamphlets there too; tourists would be quite interested to drive all the way to the cemetery for an exciting experience. Of course, you should think about the local people as well: they too may show interest in knowing which famous persons are buried in their local cemetery. So advertise your business in local newspapers.

Make sure you make the tour interesting and simple. If your customers enjoy what they see and hear, you will be getting more customers in the future through references. So always give your best.

That is a very creative idea - you could compile articles about the history and sell them online. Love your idea and thanks for commenting!
