Make Money Recycling

Recycling, going green and eco-friendly are all hot button words lately. And for good reason, but you can actually make money and help save the earth at the same time. Also recycling bottles and cans is a great way for kids to get in on the action too! You can even sell the caps!

When the soda companies are running code promotions you can also sell the points / codes online for quick money as well. Many auction and "pay per task " type online jobs can connect you with interested buyers. You will not get rich quick by any means, but I average one to three cents per cap online and then five cents for the can or bottle. The codes off of 12-24 packs are worth much more. It is not a ton of money but it does add up quickly. I have seen codes for sale on popular sites like e-bay, and offers for "Coke Reward Codes" and "Pepsi Points" on Amazon's Mechanical Turk. I am sure there are other sites out there where you can sell your points for a little dough as well. You may ask why someone would buy your Coke or Pepsi points. It's easy, they could be saving up points for a large item they have their eye on, or, right now you can download a MP3 song for 5 Pepsi points. If they are paying one to three cents for a cap (1 point) a song only costs them three to fifteen cents to download instead of ninety nine cents.

Besides recycling your own bottles and cans you can also pick up bottles and cans from local bars and restaurants, with permission of course. I personally have done this for a 4 star restaurant in the past, they just wanted a small percentage of the overall take. Which was about eighty dollars a week. You just need to talk to the owner and set up a pick up date and time; it is a win-win for both of you. You can also ask your neighbors if you could do their recycling for them, or ask your co-workers if you can have their empties when they are done.

It's literally green money. You are doing something good and getting paid for it! So start recycling and put a little money into your pocket. We started a can jar at the house to keep track of our earnings. In about 2 months we are up to two hundred and thirty dollars, not bad for bottles, cans and cap codes / points. Most of the bottles and cans come from other sources than our home, if I see a bottle or can on the side of the road I will pick it up and bag it to recycle later. It's hard to make recycling sound sexy or fun but one thing has never changed money talks.
