Make Money Selling Art Trading Card Supplies

Art trading cards, sometimes referred to as ACEOs, are popular in the artist community to buy and sell these days. Art trading cards are just what they sound like, small works of art the size of regular trading cards. Like baseball or Pokemon cards, these mini artworks are meant to be 3.5 by 2.5 inches in dimension. Some people will trade their cards, as the name would seem to suggest, but there is also a large market, and money to be made, in the art trading card business.

You can make money by selling needed supplies to art trading card makers and artists. Many artists are willing to buy pre-cut watercolor paper, card holders, pens and inks, colored pencils, paints, collage papers and tons of other types of supplies used in making art trading cards.

You can specialize just in trading card supplies, and sell exclusively to artists on eBay. You can buy sheets of watercolor paper and card stock, and cut into 3.5 by 2.5 inch cards, and sell in sets of 10, 20, or any number you want. Also purchase large packs of hard and soft clear card holders, and sell together with the cards. You will be able to sell the supplies for more than you bought them for, as people are willing to pay you for your time in cutting the cards. It gives the artist more time to paint their cards.

Some art trading card artists like to make collaged cards, and you can make money selling to these artists as well. If you can cut with scissors accurately, you can sell mini collage images. Simply cut out small, one to two inch images from magazines, books, and other sources. Sell them on eBay, in lots of 100 to 200.
Sort your images by theme if you want. Cats, angels, wings, France, and birds are all popular themes for trading card collages.

When you are doing your eBay listings, use keywords such as aceo, supplies, atc, art trading cards, altered art, and collage. Of course, also use specific keywords of what you are actually selling, like clippings, watercolor paper, or artist pens. Here are a couple examples of good auction titles : "20 pre-cut watercolor art cards, sleeves, aceo, atc," , and " 200 mini clippings, aceo, collage, art cards". Remember to not put in spaces between your commas and the words when you are writing titles for your listings. Use only necessary keywords, using as many as the title will allow.

You can sell a variety of art trading card supplies if you want, or just specialize in one or two things. You should start by selling exclusively by auction, until you get a following of regular customers. Then you might want to think of expanding into an eBay store. A store will allow you to create listings for much cheaper so you can make even more money.
