Make Money Selling Old College Textbooks Online

Chris Jones
Are you a college student working your way to pay off tuition fees to avoid future debt? Then you know that college textbooks are extremely expensive. But instead of selling your textbooks back to the bookstore for bare minimum prices and having it make money off other students, you might as well sell your textbooks directly to other students via online merchant services such as Amazon.com, eBay.com, or half.com. All are legit and payment is secure so buyers and sellers feel safe. By doing so, you make a better profit on your textbooks that you would only gotten 15% from the book store when you can sell it for 70% of the new textbook price. Here is how you do it.

Start off by buying your textbooks a couple months before the semester begins. This will guarantee that you can buy a cheaper book. For example, buy your textbooks used online during the early summer for the coming fall semester. That way, you can get the best selection of textbooks for the lowest price. Everyone who is completing the spring semester is selling their books, but there is little demand for these textbooks in the summer.

A textbook that normally costs $100 will most likely sell for around $20 to $30 used on one of these Web sites. If you do not believe me, check it out yourself!

Then, come early fall, the textbook prices will skyrocket. If you are looking to purchase textbooks for the spring semester, right after the fall semester when everyone is trying to sell their book or even during the fall semester.

You might be thinking, "What if I have no idea what my books are?" Well chances are, teachers use the same books every year, just a newer edition. What I would do is first look on my college Web site's schedule and then access the bookstore to see what the teachers used for that textbook in previous semesters. If all else fails, try contacting the professor and simply ask what book you need. Most professors will oblige and tell you the necessary and required textbooks.

Finally, selling your textbooks is the best time of all, because you get to collect your well-deserved money. And since the websites listed above pay by direct transfer to your bank account or Paypal account, you will get the money within a couple days. This is especially useful since college students are often on a low budget. So if you are a college student, then follow this plan and you can potentially save yourself hundreds or more dollars over the course of your college experience from books alone.
