Make the Most of a Small Bedroom

The price you pay for living in a big city is paying high prices for small amounts of space. If you live in a big city, more likely than not, your bedroom is small. Most city apartments have small bedrooms and little to no storage space. This makes it tough for any one to comfortable make use of their bedroom. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your small bedroom.

De-clutter!

Clutter is your worse enemy when you are living in a small space. But for some reason, clutter always seems to make itself right at home in cramped quarters. Clutter is difficult to avoid in small bedrooms, but if you allow clutter to accumulate, your space will seem even smaller than it already is. Don't worry, clutter isn't hard to get rid of, you just have to designate a spot for everything in your room. Choose a place for every category of items that would usually go in your bedroom. Such as... shoes are placed in a clear storage box under your bed, dresses; skirts are placed in the top right hand drawer; or magazines are placed on the book shelf next to all of the health and beauty books. You get the picture. When everything has a designated area where it belongs, you no longer have to wonder where to place it. This makes you more inclined to keep a tidy space from the start, because keeping your small bedroom neat wont be such a hassle anymore.

Choose an All White Color Scheme

Color schemes play a big part in how large or small your bedroom appears. You know the age old tale that white makes you look fat? While choosing a monochromatic white color scheme will not make your bedroom look "fat" per se, but a white color scheme will make your room appear larger than it actually is. When choosing an all white color scheme for your bedroom, make sure to sneak in a few pops of color here and there. But be sure when choosing pops of color to only choose one bright color. Bright colors look best against a white backdrop because they almost literally "POP" off of the white. Incorporate your bright color with several small accents and only one statement piece. For example, your small accents will be red candles, a red vase and a red throw pillow and your statement piece will be a large red abstract painting centered over your bed.
