A coupon book is special because you can tailor the coupons to the likes and dislikes of your mother, and it can also be made to fit any budget and any age. Little kids can make a coupon book just as well as an adult child can and it will be just as special! You can make yours by hand or on a computer, depending on your graphic design skills and it should come together quickly, the hardest part is choosing what to put on the coupons.
A coupon book should be fairly small. The biggest size is about post card size, but you also make a mini coupon book, depending on your preferences. If you plan to do this by hand, precut all the coupons ahead of time, decorate and write on them, then staple them into a booklet with a cardboard cover. You can also do them up on the computer. Microsoft Publisher offers business card templates that would be perfect, or you can create your own.
Deciding what you will offer on your coupons is very personal. You might offer to do chores or errands that your mother hates to do, or buy her something. You want to have a minimum of 10 coupons, so you can mix and match the offers. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Dinner for Two. This could be a dinner for you and your mom, or for her and the date of her choice. You might want to specify the restaurant to keep costs down.
Clean the Gutters. The perfect job offer. It might take you a few hours, but your mother will be thrilled!
Trip for Two. Offer to take your mom on a day trip to a nearby area that she loves, be it the beach, the zoo, whatever.
Prepared Picnic. Take her out for a picnic, you provide everything, food, drinks, transport, so she doesn't have to do a thing.
Babysitting Services. Specify how long, for example, 5 hours of babysitting services. This would only apply if you have younger siblings who are unable to stay alone at home.
You are sure to come up with many more ideas on your own. Think of all the chores and things that your mother hates to do and offer to do them for her with a coupon. When she wants to redeem a coupon, she simply rips it out of the book and gives it to you. If you have a job or other obligations, you might want to specify some rules about when you will complete the jobs, on the back of the coupon book.
Make a coupon book for your mom this Mother's Day and you won't be sorry. It is a gift that she will adore!
