A nice Mother's Day craft is a basket. This is very simple to make. Gather 5 brown paper grocery sacks. Stack these inside each other. Cut down to half of the height. Get 2 colors of raffia paper. Untwist these. Braid through these two colors of raffia paper on the outside of the bag, using your glue gun to secure these to the bags. They should be overlapped and underlapped. After this put some material on the inside of the bags that matches your raffia paper. Gather the material slightly then gather the edges and glue the edges tot he top of the bags and hot glue. Take a piece of each raffia paper and a piece of your material and braid. Glue each end on the inside of the bags and this is used as your handle to your basket. Your mom now has a basket to match a room in her house. If desired, fill this basket with flowers or candy. Another option to put into the basket would be going to your local dollar store and purchasing bath items such as body wash, lotions, and candles. Something for a day of relaxation for your mother. Gardening items are always nice to give if your mother has a green thumb. Purchase a rose bush or some shrubs from your local greenery. This would be a gift that keeps giving year after year. If your mother already has the green thumb and all the shrubs and plants she desires, make her a basket with gardening tools such as the hand held shovels, gloves, knee pads, or fertilizer for her already growing plants. You may also purchase her some figurines or stepping stones for her lovely garden.

Gift certificates are always a great idea. If she has a certain store that she pursues often go there and get a certificate for her. Get her a gift certificate for a massage, a manicure or pedicure. If you mother travels alot get her a gas card She will appreciate this more than you know. This way to fuel up it's not coming out of her pocket and she will be thankful every time. Does your mother frequent the movie theater? Purchase her some movie bucks. Maybe she will splurge on some of those outrageous snacks that she would have never thought of doing before. Pay ahead on one of her utility bills for a month. That would leave extra money in her pocket for something she would like to do for that month. Make your own certificates for her. Some ideas would be: a housecleaning, free meal, free dog walking, or a free car wash. These she could give to you as she needs or wants these things done.

All in all Mothers Day is a great day to show your appreciation for your mother. Sometimes homemade gifts or gifts that don't cost a fortune mean the most because they are from the heart. Sometimes just being with your mother on that special day is enough. Regardless, look into your heart and decide what feels right to give your own mother and you too enjoy this day. After all it only comes once a year. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I hope your Mother's Day is very special this year and every year to come.
