Make Your Own Autumn Wreath in 3 Steps!

An Easy, Inexpensive Way to Decorate Your Home for the Season

Red Devil
We all want the entrance to our home to be inviting, and to do this, most hang lovely wreaths on their doors. The wonderful time of year is here for beautiful browns, reds, yellows and golds. Autumn is finally here, one of my favorite times of the year. Most of you, like me, are always watching your budget. This is an easy, three-step way to make your own touch of joy to hang on your front door.

What you will need:
Cardboard box
Scissors
Glue of choice or Hot glue gun with glue sticks
Autumn artificial flowers
Yarn

Step 1- First, you will need your cardboard box, or just an odd piece of cardboard you have. Cut a circle to look like a big donut. This will be the base for your wreath, so be sure and cut it as big as you want your wreath to be.

Step 2- Take the flowers off of the stems of your artificial flowers. Be sure and cut the leaves off, too. The flowers and leaves will be all that you keep. You can discard the stems because you won't need them. Be sure and wrap the stems in some plastic bags before you throw them away because there are wires in the stems and these can painfully poke and scratch, not to mention tear a hole in your garbage bag that will make a big mess when you take out the trash. Glue the flowers all over the cardboard circle and fill in the spaces by gluing in your leaves.

Step 3- Finally, cut a piece of yarn long enough to wrap around your wreath and go over your door to the inside of the door. You can wrap the yarn around the wreath and tie it or you can tape one end of the yarn to the back of your wreath. Either way is fine. Now, pull the yarn over the top of your door letting the wreath hang down the front of the door and the lose end will be on the inside of the door. Attach the lose end of the yarn to the door by either taping or tacking it. If you have a metal door, you can put a magnet over the lose end..this is what I do.

Now you have a beautiful, inexpensive Autumn wreath that you can be proud of! The only cost for me to make my wreath was $2.00, which was the cost of the artificial flowers and much cheaper than you can buy a wreath for. I already had everything else and if you don't have any cardboard handy, you can use some poster-board instead, or your local grocery store is always more than happy to give you cardboard boxes so they don't have to break them down.

Have fun making your wreath and keep in mind all the possibilities of flowers and extra touches you can add. You can add dried tree leaves or twigs (which are always free) if you like. Use your imagination and the possibilities are endless....enjoy!
