Step One ~ Purchasing your materials
Necessary Materials
Cardstock (You may choose whatever color you like, but I always use plain white, it's easier to match with any added paper!)
Paper Cutter
Designed Paper
Decorative Rubber Stamp
Word Stamp
Ink Pad
Adhesive
Envelopes
Most, if not all of the materials listed above can be purchased at your local discount retailer, there should be no need to go in search of a high end craft store!
Step Two ~ Get the Right Size
A good size for handmade cards is 5.5" x 4.25". This is half of one 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, so it will save you money in the long run and it will only cost one stamp to mail it! Cut your regular paper in half and that's it!
Step Three ~ Designed Paper
Add designed paper with the same color scheme of your cardstock. Tear edges, add layers and ink the edges for dimension.
Step Four ~ Stamp
Choose one stamp design in your chosen theme, for example if your paper is winter blues and silvers, go with a snowflake or igloo type stamp, if it's red and green pick Santa or a Christmas Tree stamp. Stamp on a coordinating piece of paper, then cut it out and add it to the card with a pop dot or regular adhesive.
Step Five ~ State the Meaning of This!
Add a word of phrase by stamping onto another scrap piece of paper, then add it to the card with ribbons or brads.
Step Six ~ State the Meaning Again!
Inside the card, add a greeting such as "Merry Christmas" or "Wishing you a joyous and peace filled holiday".
Step Seven ~ Can I Please Have Your John Hancock?
Sign Your Name! You created an art piece, all good artists sign their work! Most people display their holiday cards for all to see when they visit. Everyone picks up a beautiful card to take a closer look, let them see who designed such a card! Who knows, you could end up with a home based business making greeting cards!
