You can make your own greeting cards by taking a potato and cutting it in half and carving a design into the sliced part and making a stamp. Then take the stamp and use ink to print on card stock. And voila, you have a beautiful artistic design. This idea can be taken one step further by using a linoleum block print and carving a design in art linoleum and gluing it to a block of wood and then using printing ink use a brayer to put ink on the design and stamp out cards. You can get a gradated look by putting for example red and yellow next to each other and using the brayer to mix them slightly you wind up with red orange and yellow on the design.

Another favorite way to make a greeting card is to take artistic photos. Get them printed at snapfish.com and glue them to card stock. Presto, you have instant greeting card for not a lot of money.

Some people even recycle used greeting cards by taking ones that haven't been written on along the back of the design, cut them off and use them like a post card. They have also used old magazines and advertisements to make funny greeting cards. Use your creativity and figure out ways you can be crafty and save money as well.

I have gotten a lot of compliments for my cards and I enjoyed making them as well. You don't have to spend a lot and you can even sell them if you are good enough at it. Some people draw designs, scan them into the computer and print them up on the printer on special computer cards. They sell them for about $2.50 each and it is a good way to make money if you are artistic.

Considering the way everyone is pinched for money with gas prices and all. It can really help to have ways to save money or even make money. If you want to save money on cards, making them yourself can definitely bring enjoyment and joy to others as well. It's amazing what you can do with some paint and glue. It doesn't have to be a Picasso to be a good greeting card. It just has to be sentimental. And it doesn't hurt if it is pretty.

I hope some of these ideas help you save money or even make some money.
