Make Your Own Halloween Trick-or-Treat Bag

Halloween is great fun. In the tradition of Halloween fun, children expect treats and candy from houses that they visit. When children think of Halloween they immediately begin to think of all of the candy and treats that they will be receiving. Make your child's Halloween treat gathering even more special by making a homemade treat bag.

Treat bags can easily be made and kept from year to year for your child to enjoy each time that they trick or treat. The bags can be as detailed or as easy as you wish them to be made. Children will love getting involved in making their own Halloween treat bags. Children from age preschool to teens can help decorate and cut material for their bag. You can also personalize the bags by writing the child's name on them.

Halloween treat bags can be simply made from Halloween material. Check out any stores that offer fabric. The stores usually have a great supply of Halloween material beginning in late September and into October. Choose a material that is cute and fun.

Begin by cutting a long rectangle of material. Hem the material on each end. Fold the material and seam inside out along the sides. Use left over material to create handles. But two strips of material equal length. Sew the material together in the middle to create a tube look. Sew each end of the material to each side of the top of the bag. Use fabric or craft paint sticks to write your child's name on the bag.

Halloween treat bags can also be made from paper gift bags. Choose fun shades of gifts bags. Make sure that you purchase the solid color paper type bags. Slick and shiny bags are hard to draw on or glue shapes onto. Use black, orange, and yellow construction paper to cutout Halloween shapes and designs. Glue the designs and cut outs onto the bag. Add stickers, glitter, and any other Halloween decorations that you may find.

In addition to using gift bags, let your children make their own treat bags by using paper grocery bags. The children can use construction paper cutouts, glitter, markers, glue, stickers, and more. Create handles for the bag by stapling a thick string to each side of the bag.

If you interested in making a new bag each year, try making a bag that matched your child's costume. For example, if your child is a princess, make a pink frilly bag instead of using Halloween items.
