A stroll down the lotion isle in any drug store offers s plethora of choices. Each seems to promise beautiful and moisturized skin. There is no question that lotion can help moisturized the skin.

The basic ingredients for lotion are universal and simple. There are many things that can be added, but it all begins with the same three ingredients.

The three main ingredients in lotion are water, oil, and an emulsifier. The emulsifying wax stabilizes all the components and gives lotions the creamy texture.

Lemon lotion has a nice fresh smell and can be used to lighten the skin as well. Lemon is also touted for oily skin, varicose veins, and cellulite. If the lemon additive is the fresh lemon juice the lotion needs to be refrigerated.

Now lets take a look at some recipes for lemon lotions.

Supplies:
*Lemon essence oil 1 1/2 ounces
*1/2 ounce cocoa butter
*1/2 ounce vegetable glycerin
*1 1/2 tablespoon beeswax
*1 cup water
*double boiler
*blender
*container for lotion

Combine lemon essence oil, cocoa butter, vegetable glycerin and beeswax into the double boiler. Heat over medium low until everything is melted.

Put one cup water in the blender. The goal is to mix the ingredients slowly and no more mixing than absolutely necessary. Set the blender at the lowest setting and add the mixture from the double boiler slowly. As soon as it is creamy, stop.

Put the lotion in the container. Do not put a lid on the container until the lotion is completely cooled. Lotion can be stored in a cool dark place up to 30 days.

Supplies:
*2 saucepans
*whisk
*4 tablespoons shaved beeswax
*1/2 cup coconut oil
*4 tablespoons apricot kernel oil
*1/2 teaspoon lemon oil
*1/4 teaspoon aloe vera gel (This can be harvested directly from the plant.)
*4 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin
*4 tablespoons of distilled water
*2 teaspoon borax powder

1. Heat the saucepan so it is warm to accept the wax and melt it quickly. As the wax begins to melt add the oils and the gel.

2. Pour the water in the 2nd pan and bring to a boil. Add the borax powder. Stir until it is completely dissolve.

3. Now it is time to combine the ingredients. Add the water and borax powder to the ingredients in the other sauce pan. It is important to pour slowly and keep whisking. This is what gives the lotion the creamy texture and makes sure that ingredients do not separate. Keep whisking until there is no question.

4. Allow the lotion to cool and them put the lotion in an appropriate container.

The benefit of making it yourself is that it can be changed to be the perfect personalized lotion. It worth a few experiments to get something successful.
