Make Your Own Lip Gloss

3 Great Recipes

Ever lose your favorite lip gloss? I know I don't want to go to the store just to buy a thing of lip gloss but sometimes you really just need it! Now you won't have to worry about that, you can make your own. I've included three of the easiest recipes I know of and the end results are always great.

For all of these recipes you will need small containers to put your lip gloss in either to keep for yourself or to give as small gifts. Some suggestions for the containers are either an old film canister, one of the plastic containers that come out of gumball machines, or an old mint tin - just make sure you wash whatever you're using thoroughly.

The first recipe is for a honey flavored lip gloss. You will need the following ingredients

1 tablespoon Vaseline
1 teaspoon honey
1/4 teaspoon hot water

All you need to do is combine the Vaseline and honey together and then add a couple drops of water at a time as you mix until you get the consistency of lip gloss. It should be soft but not too liquidy. Then just spoon your honey lip gloss into whatever container you have chosen to use.

Another recipe I like is for a cinnamon flavored lip gloss but you can make it with any flavor candy oil if you don't like cinnamon. You will need the following ingredients for this recipe

2 tablespoons Vaseline
1/4 teaspoon lipstick, any color
4 drops cinnamon oil

For this recipe you will be microwaving the lip gloss so make sure you're using a microwave safe bowl, I usually use a small glass bowl. In the bowl place the Vaseline and on top of it put the lipstick (use whatever shade you want your lip gloss to be.) Microwave the mixture for about 25 seconds, or until it has softened. Mix the Vaseline and lipstick until it is thoroughly combined and then stir in the cinnamon oil (or whatever flavor you prefer.) Now just spoon it into your container and you're all set!

The last recipe is great for those of you who prefer a fruity flavored lip gloss. You will need

2 tablespoons solid shortening

1 tablespoon fruit flavored powdered drink mix

All you have to do for this recipe is combine the two ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and mix until they are fairly smooth. Then microwave your lip gloss for approximately 30 seconds at which point you will have liquid lip gloss. Mix well and pour into the container you have chosen. Now put your lip gloss into the refrigerator for half an hour and you will have a firm lip gloss to enjoy.

I hope you decide to try out these recipes next time you need lip gloss because more than likely you have the ingredients sitting around your house and it'll be more fun than going to the store and spending your hard earned money.
