Make Your Own Mickey Mouse Halloween Costume

One of the more popular cartoon characters of all times, Mickey Mouse, can be quite a popular and fun hit at Halloween time. It is also a fairly easy costume to create at home for your young ones, for all the neighbors to awe in your creativity. This costume is fairly simple to create, and you can bring the magic of Disney to this Halloween's season. While there are costumes of Mickey Mouse available to purchase, this you can create in your very own home and save yourself some money!

The first thing you will need to do is gather a matching black sweatshirt and sweatpants for the base of the costume. Depending on the climate where you are located, you may choose to use pants and a long sleeved t-shirt if it is warmer. If you are using a sweatshirt, you will want to make sure the sweatshirt has a hood on it to help you with the ears.

Add a pair of red shorts on top of the pants or sweat pants. You can cut out two yellow circles out of felt, and attach them on the front of the shorts to act as the buttons on the Mickey Mouse costume. These can be glued, pinned, or even sewn on depending on your skill level and time. The next thing you will want to add to your costume is a tail.

This can be attached to the seat of the red shorts, and you can use a yarn, piece of felt, or even ribbon, as long as it is black. Choose a length that is not too long for the person wearing the costume to trip on. This is a fun holiday, and you do not want it to be ruined by a tripping accident.

Accent the costume with white gloves. You can use any type of glove, but the most flexible and inexpensive would be magic stretchy gloves, which come in all sizes. This way the little fingers are still able to hold onto their stash of candy while trick or treating. If you are unable to find a white pair of gloves, you can always use Halloween make up and smear it on the hands for the authentic look.

Create ears to attach to your costume. These can be made out of cardboard or even a stiffer felt. If you have a hooded top, they can be pinned on or sewn, and if you have no hood you can attach them onto a black headband.

Paint the face white with Halloween makeup. If the skin isn't very pale, use white makeup or choose to leave it pale, and color the nose black. This will give your child the true look of Mickey Mouse.

Finish the look by wearing yellow shoes. While this might be something hard to find, you can always create a yellow shoe cover out of felt. Attach it around the ankle with a pin, and it will work just as well as a pair of shoes.
