Make Your Own Mrs Fields Cookies

You don't have to go to the local mall to have wonderful Mrs Fields Cookies. Yes, you can make your own big batch of Mrs Fields Cookies in the comfort of your own home. Be aware that this Mrs Fields Cookies recipe for great chocolate chip cookies does indeed call for 1 lb of butter and 6 cups of flour, but makes dozens of large (or small) Mrs Fields Cookies. Once you make these cookies, it will be tough to go back to any other kind of chocolate chip cookies. Before you make these Mrs Fields Cookies, make sure to read through the standard instructions, as well as the tips that are provided below.

MRS FIELDS COOKIES RECIPE:
1 pound butter
1 pound (or 2 1/4 cups) dark brown sugar
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
6 cups unsifted flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
24 oz chocolate chips
2 cups walnuts - coarsely chopped (optional)

MRS FIELDS COOKIES STANDARD INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add white sugar, vanilla, and eggs. Beat 3-4 minutes. In separate bowl, mix flour,
soda, and salt. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir and stir (use hands too!) Add chocolate chips (and walnuts if desired). Using 1/4 measuring cup, press dough into cup. Turn out onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Do not flatten. Smooth slightly. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on cookie sheet - then put on cooling rack until cool.

MRS FIELDS COOKIES - TIP 1: You can make all of your Mrs Fields Cookies large, as in the standard instructions above. However, I often like to make some of my chocolate chip cookies large and others smaller (or standard cookie size). The smaller chocolate chip cookies should have a shorter baking time - in my oven, the smaller cookies take 12 minutes and the larger chocolate chip cookies take 14 minutes. They look "gooey" or not completely done when they come out, but they set while on the cookie sheet.

MRS FIELDS COOKIES - TIP 2: For my Mrs Fields Cookies, I didn't add salt, but used salted butter instead.

MRS FIELDS COOKIES - TIP 3 : I typically add a little less flour to my Mrs Fields Cookies - when I measured each cup of flour, they were mostly full, but not completely.

I saw a Mrs. Field's segment on a cooking program, and the corporate rep said there is less wet ingredients, more butter and more sugar, than the traditional home kitchen would use. Their cookies are baked at 300 deg. for 8-10 min. in the factory.
