Make Your Own Pita Chips

A Quick, Easy, Crunchy Snack

Amy Gibbons
Pita Chips are an easy snack to make. By varying the seasoning, you vary the flavor. I used four flavors in my pictured chips, dill, lemon pepper, seasoned salt and popcorn flavoring. They are all good.

Ingredients (see photo):
Pita chips,
cooking spray or oil if you have a sprayer
seasonings of your choice

Directions:
Cut the pita in quarters(see picture). Split the top from the bottom and lay them rough side up on a cookie sheet. They can be quite close together (see picture). Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray the pita on the cookie sheet with the oil of your choice or with a cooking spray such as Pam. Sprinkle the seasoning of your choice on the Pita(see picture). You can mix and match the flavors. Some options include paprika, lemon pepper, cumin, hot pepper flakes, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder. Whatever you have on hand that you think would taste good. Do not put strong flavors on too thickly unless you really like them. (that popcorn flavoring comes out too fast and is too salty) Bake the chips 10 to 12 minutes, cool and serve. Store in zip lock bags.
