Making your own ringtones for the Verizon Android phone is easy and can be done directly from the phone. You will have to add an application to do so, but once you do, the steps to making your own ringtones for the Droid phone are fast and easy. Ringdroid

The Ringdroid for Verizon Android phones can be found in Marketplace. Go to Marketplace directly from your Android. The free application can be found in the free. Type in the search bar "Ringdroid" and that application will come right up. Click on the install button. This will download the application to your Android. It only takes a few seconds for it to show up.

Which Songs Can You Use?

You can use any songs that are on your Android phone. It doesn't matter which songs you choose as long as they show up on the Android. If you don't already have songs on the Android, you will need to transfer them from your computer to the Android. Once you do that, you will be ready to make your personal ringtones.

Editing

You will now be able to edit the song to make the ringtone. Open Ringdroid from the icon tray. It will be in the drag out menu at the bottom of the Android screen. When Ringdroid opens, it will give you a list of songs from your phone. Choose the song that you wish to turn into a ringtone for the Droid phone. This will open another screen where you will edit the song to the portion that you wish to make a ringtone.

You will see a grayed out area. If you click on the arrow button, that portion of the song will play. You can move the grayed out area to which ever part of the song you want it to play. You do this by touching the arrow key at the top left hand side of the grey area and sliding it across. To hear exactly where the song will start and end, press the play button again. If you want to make the ringtone shorter or longer, touch and slide the arrow button on the right hand bottom side of the gray area. Move it around and listen until you have the right parts of the song playing. Once you have the right areas grayed out, click on the icon of the floppy disk. This is the save button. You will then confirm that you want it as a ringtone.

Setting As Ringtone for Contacts

You will get an option to set the ringtone for a contact or to exit. Choose to exit. This set option doesn't work. You will have to go to your contact list to set the ringtone. Decide who you want to set the ringtone for, touch the name. This will open the contact information. Touch the hard key at the bottom of the Verizon Android phone. This will open up a menu. Choose the Options button. This will give you a choice for "Ringtone". Choose that option. You will then be able to choose your personalized ringtone for that contact. Click on the "OK" button. The ringtone will now be set for the contact that you wanted it for.
