Ever since One for the Money came out in 1994, everybody has been crazy for the Janet Evanovich books. The heroine, Stephanie Plum, is the type of woman readers can relate to. Stephanie might not be the best bounty hunter in the world, but she sure is spunky. If you are in love with this Janet Evanovich mystery series, you should try dressing up in a Stephanie Plum costume this Halloween. A Stephanie Plum costume is creative, easy to make and a lot of fun to wear.
Clothing
There are a lot of clothing options available for your Stephanie Plum costume. In her books, Janet Evanovich enjoys constructing a variety of outfits. These range from flannel and jeans to an oversized T-shirt and leggings. I suggest going for what Janet Evanovich dubs the "kick ass bounty hunter" look. This involves a black shirt, black jeans and black shoes. This way, you'll be recognizable as a bounty hunter to those poor souls who have never heard of Stephanie Plum.
Hair and Makeup
Stephanie uses a lot of hairspray in her brown curls and an equally impressive amount of mascara on her lashes. If you are a brunette, you can achieve the look with a good curling iron and plenty of product. Otherwise, you'll either want to use a wash-out hair dye or invest in a good wig. Apply bright lipstick and black mascara and you'll be good to go.
Bounty Hunter Gear
Early on in the series, Stephanie Plum learns the importance of carrying defense spray, handcuffs, a stun gun and her Smith and Wesson .38. Of course, carrying a real gun around might get you in trouble with the neighbors. You're better off opting with a fake gun. A lot of dollar stores have impressive collections of plastic weapons. Otherwise, you should have no trouble finding bounty hunter gear at your local Halloween shop.
Couples Costumes
If you really want to attract attention this Halloween, dress your significant other up as Ranger or Joe Morelli. He might initially balk at the prospect of dressing as a Janet Evanovich character, but if he sees the costume and accessories, he just might give in. If your guy decides to dress up as Ranger, he'll need black clothing and a black ponytail wig. A Morelli costume is a little easier. As a plainclothesman cop, Joe Morelli usually wears a jeans and a sporty jacket. He has a thin scar on his right eyelid that you can create with a bit of makeup. Also known as "Officer Hottie," Joe Morelli carries a gun on his hip and a bad boy smirk on his face.
Other costume ideas: Sue Sylvester, Bellatrix Lestrange and Kathy Beth Terry.

Another great costume article! :)
Mercy me! I love Stephanie Plum and this article is great. I think her sidekick would be tons of fun, too. Lulu...not sure of the spelling.
