Make Your Own Sushi: Tips and Secrets

Jason Ward
I know of a lot of people who just love sushi but when I ask them how often they have it they respond about once or twice a month or less, I realized that a lot of people don't eat as much sushi as they would really like to because it is pretty costly compared to most other food, so what is the solution? Make your own of course, I've been doing it for years and its worked just great so far, and so I am going to share my secret with you of how to make killer homemade sushi.

Ok, first off you are going to need to get some ingredients and utilities, if there is an Asian store around where you live they will usually sell all the things you are going to need, but sometimes at big supermarkets they have as well. Start off by getting a wooden roller used for rolling the sushi it is possible to work without one of these but I wouldn't suggest it as it makes life a lot harder and messier. Next you need to get seaweed sheets and Japanese rice, soy sauce, and wasabi, now is time to get the stuff that goes inside, it really depends on what you like in your sushi, some people like fish sushi and other people like vegetarian sushi, for a delicious Californian role you can get some cucumbers, avocados and crab sticks. You can also try it with smoked salmon or a varieties of raw fish, but make sure when buying the raw fish that you get it fresh and not frozen or old as rotten fish can be quite dangerous.

Alright now that we have all of the ingredients it is time to put the rice on the stove and make sure to over cook it a little bit as it needs to be mushy, now cut all of your sushi insides into long strips and put them into separate bowls and lay them out, now it is time to start making the Sushi. Start by laying the wooden roller out on your surface now dump a spoonful of rice on that and spread around a whole layer evenly, then put a sheet of seaweed on top now lay down the strips of whatever you like in the middle and roll it into a long compressed sushi roll, take a knife now and cut it into bite sized sushi pieces.

All you are missing now is some chopsticks to make your sushi eating night a night to remember.

So as you can see it is a simple yet effective way of making one of the best foods in the world.

Enjoy!!
