When we wake up in the morning, one of the first things that many of us are used to smelling is a delicious cup of hot or iced coffee. Many of us need that perky zest in the morning to get us out of the sleepy funk we just crawled out of. What complements a fresh cup of coffee best for those morning blues, is your morning shower - and what better way to bring the morning together than to add some coffee to it!

You might be under the impression that coffee isn't that good for you. Well, you'll be pleasantly surprised to know that you're very wrong! Coffee is in fact quite good in many ways, especially for your skin. Much of coffee's bad hype was started because of other caffeinated coffee byproducts, and the addition of cheap artificial sweeteners and fatty dairy products that lessen the integrity of your cup of joe. Luckily, nothing comes between the natural wonders of coffee and your skin when you use it specifically for skincare. Coffee beans are stuffed full of wonderful things that are great for your skin, like natural antioxidants, antibacterial agents, and so on. Coffee also works very well as an exfoliator, because when ground up, it acts the same as many other popular exfoliating ingredients. (Sands, ground nuts, etc.)

Now that you're excited about what coffee can do for you in the shower as well as in your morning mug, it's time to make yourself a sweet latte scrub that smells like your favorite coffee shop, and leaves your skin smooth, radiant, and clean.

You'll need only basic things - and they're all-natural, of course. You need about a half cup of ground coffee beans (ground coarsely, not to an instant sort of powder.), 2 tablespoons of pure cane sugar, and about half a handful of soap flakes to give your scrub a gentle lather. When I say soap flakes, I urge that you use vegetable soap flakes. To be truthful, many soap flakes sold on the market today are actually made with much safer and more natural processes than they were in the past, so just check the ingredients to make sure you aren't buying something that's harmful for the environment. If you just can't find soap flakes, simply take a bar of your favorite organic or vegetable soap, and grate a little bit off the end.

Add these three ingredients together in a small bowl, and put droplets of water into the bowl until you get a consistency that can be applied to your sponge, loofah, or washcloth. Now hop in the shower and scrub to your heart's content! You're using the awesome natural power of coffee to cleanse and exfoliate your skin - and you're removing all those icky dead skin cells too!

You can save whatever is left over in a small covered container, preferably something made of glass. Only store and keep for one day, though, because wet coffee beans can collect mold if not used within a 2 day span! Lucky for you, this scrub is easy to make again and again if you're truly happy with the stunning results.

Enjoy the sweet smell of a sugary, creamy latte in the morning before you even start the coffee pot. Have fun, and keep it natural!
