Vintage Jewelry into Hair Pieces:
What you need:
Vintage Jewelry (or costume)
Plastic Combs (from Michaels or another craft store)
Craft Jewelry Wire
What to do:
This is really a very easy one to make and if you're using vintage jewelry you will fill your something old requirement.
Take your chose pieces and make sure they are free from anything dangling unless it is part of the design.
Using the crafting jewelry wire first wrap your jewelry piece and than attach the wrapped piece onto the plastic comb.
You can make as many of these as you want to compliment your hairstyle and have your hairstylist place them into your hair on your big day.
Vintage Hair Band
If you are not wearing a traditional veil you might try this little trick that is elegant, vintage and yet modern all in one swoop.
What you will need:
Plain Headband
Ribbon
Feathers
Lace or Netting
String of pearls or faux pearls
Hot glue gun
Vintage jewelry piece
What to do:
Take your plain headband and carefully wrap the ribbon about it. Secure both ends of it with the hot glue gun.
Next you will take your strand of pearls or faux pearls and wrap them carefully with the band. To make sure they do not slide and stake perfectly secure you will want to glue them as you go and not just on the ends. Pearls have a habit of being slippery on ribbon.
Take the feathers and carefully bind the bunch together with some more of the ribbon.
Chose the side you would prefer for your feathers and secure them with the hot glue between spirals of the beads. To cover the look of how the feather bunch is secured you can take your vintage jewelry piece and secure it over the stem of the bunch.
If you wish to have a little bit of a veil secure your lace or netting on the underside of the headband making it as long or as short as you like. The preferred look with the feather bunch is like the old fashioned facial veils on hats reaching down to the chin.
These are just two of the possible hair accessories that you can make for yourself. No matter what your style or fashion is just use your imagination. Your special day is all about you but there is no reason why you should have to break the bank to make it just right.
