Lined Clothing Items
In my house there are always blue jeans and pajama pants on the edge of life. It is easy to couple these two items together to make a complete outfit. Take a pair of jeans you have no regular use for any more and a pair of warm pajama pants. Pull the seams out of your pajama pants along the crotch up to the waistband and fully remove the waistband. Also remove the inner and outer seams of the leg.
Place both sides of each leg to their corresponding place in your worn blue jeans and pin. Run a straight seam along the length of the pajamas. Marry the seam against the edge of the blue jean seam for both comfort and aesthetic quality. Repeat this with all edges of the pajama pant leg. Turn the pants inside out and you have a comfortable and warm solution to cold weather and chilly days in the home.
Wrist Warmers
There are a couple of nifty ways to craft your own wrist warmers and my husband and I wear them both way. This is actually a no-sew project.
Take a worn pair of socks and cut off the foot neatly. The elastic band of a long sock will perfectly fit an average size wrist. When my wrist is warm, my whole body feels warm.
A second option is to take a coozy as typically used for a canned beverage. Make sure to get a coozy that is not a formed piece but is rather a round, flexible item with holes on either side for flexibility. Cut out the piece of fabric at the bottom of the coozy around the holes . The material of the coozy will again provide the stretch to fit an average size wrist.
Both of these options provide a great deal of comfort for the body in the cold winter months while being great for use around the house. The clothing is little fuss and entirely economical!
