Make Your PC Run Faster Than Ever!

Tips for Making Your Computer to Work as it Should Be

Jael Uribe
When we copy or we cut a file or an image (that is a very heavy file), it is regularly stored in our computer's Clipboard. The problem is that in order to work, the Clipboard uses the RAM memory, which is the principal resource your machine needs to accomplish any task. The more tasks at the same time you do, the more RAM memory you will need.

If you are using a lot of RAM memory with whatever you have stored in the Clipboard, your PC will run more slowly and it will get "on hold". This is the reason why is very important to keep this in mind, and become used to always empty the Clipboard and give your computer a proper maintenance. If you copied a file to paste it, do it right away to be able to clean the Clipboard. If you simply cut a file and don't paste it, remember to clean the Clipboard right away.

How to clean the Clipboard:

In order to clean the Clipboard, and erasing all its contents, go to the Start Menu.

-Click on RUN
-Write CLIPBRD
-Press ENTER
When open the window opens, click Delete in the Editing menu, and confirm that you wish to clean the Clipboard.

Done! Now follow next step.

How to free your Hard Disk from misused utilized space:

Every time you execute any action in your PC like saving or deleting a file, getting connected to the Internet, among others tasks, a record of temporary and unnecessary files that is stored in your hard disk occupying a precious space. In order to maintain your PC working as it should be, it is necessary that you give it the right maintenance at least 2 times per week or maybe more if you use it a lot.

-Double click on My Computer
-Right click on the C: Disk
-In the emerging window click Disk Cleanup and let the assistant go over the program looking for the temporary and unnecessary files.
-You will have a frame with the information on the files stored in your PC and that are not necessary.

Select:

-Old Chkdks Files
-Recycle bin
-Temporary files
-Web/client temporary files

And press ENTER

The window will disappear when this task is done.

Accommodating spread files in your hard disk

At least once a week, you must accommodate the files that you use on your PC to accomplish any process.
When you feel that your PC this very slow, is due to the files that are contained in the hard disk that get disorganized in such way, they create empty spaces or fragments that causes delay in finding them. The process to repair this damage is called Defragmentation.

Defragmenting your hard disk:

Go to the Start Menu
Click on Programs, then Accessories and System Tools
In the emerging window, click on Defragment and let the process go on.
It will perform a disk analysis first, and then it will ask you to Defragment.

This can last more time than expected, depending on the size of your hard disk, so I recommend you to accomplish this maintenance in the hours you not going to use your PC.

Make your desktop fly!

Do you wish to see your menus displaying faster than ever? Follow the following steps and see it for you yourself.

-Click on RUN, and then write Regedit in the open box
I-n the emerging window, click in the folder HKEY_ CURRENT_ USER and then in the sub folder Control Panel.
-Select the Desktop Folder
-In the frame of the right, scroll a little way down and double click in the record named Menushowdelay
-In the emerging window, substitute the value 400 for 0 and click in OK
-Close the window and restart your computer

Results?

Your Start Menu and the presentation of the programs will be faster than never!

If you accomplish these steps as I told you, your computer will work as it should be, and you will be able to enjoy the tasks you perform on your computer daily.

Very nice, but how exactly does the loitering feline help speed up a computer? If anything, doesn't that mess up productivity?
