The only items you need to make photo cards are a few sheets of colored card stock, a glue stick, markers and photographs. You could also use glitter, chipboard stickers and other small craft embellishments to decorate the cards if you like.
Lay a sheet of card stock on your work surface with the long side facing left to right. Fold the card stock in half to create a portrait style card, opening on the right. For landscape, simply turn the card stock to the right so that it opens from the bottom.
Place a small amount of glue on the back of a photograph. Position the photo over the front of the card and press down. Gently smooth the photograph with the side of your fingers to ensure it lays flat.
Use a marker to write a title greeting on the front of the card. Write the greeting in the empty space on the card stock around the photograph.
Optional Decorating Ideas
Use a glue pen to outline the photograph. Sprinkle the wet glue with glitter and allow it become tacky. Shake off any loose glitter and allow the glue to dry completely.
Create a frame around the photo using ribbon. Cut scraps or braid three pieces of ribbon together. Use glue dots or foam dots to adhere the ribbon to the cardstock.
Design photo corners using miniature gems. Place a small dot of liquid craft glue on the back of each gem. Arrange three gems in to the shape of a triangle on to each corner of the photograph.
Bedazzle words on to the blank area around the photo. Use stencils to trace a title on to the card stock before bedazzling.
Use chipboard letters to create titles instead of handwriting the words. Decorate the letters with patterned paper and glitter or paint them with acrylic paint to match the card theme.
Add layers of patterned and solid paper behind the photograph. Cut each piece of paper slightly smaller than the last to create a three-dimensional look.
Place paper or silk flowers on to a single corner for a simple, but elegant decoration. You could design a frame around the photograph using miniature silk flowers.
