Make Plans Now for Possible Swine Flu School Closings

ABC Reported that 160,400 Children Did Not Go to School Today Because of the H1N1 Swine Flu

ABC reported that 160,400 children did not go to school today because of the H1N1 swine flu, including students at a school in Huntsville, Alabama. That means a tremendous number of parents are scrambling to adjust their schedules, calling their bosses, and worrying about the health of their children. Yesterday President Obama said, "Parents should think about contingencies if schools in their area should shut down."

The entire Ft. Worth school district is closed until May 11th. What's a parent to do? Many are advertising for babysitters on Facebook. Many others are trying to come up with a family plan.

So parents, get ready. Make preparations and take precautions. Now's the time to ask your boss how the company will handle absences caused by the swine flu. Ask if your company has emergency plans for telecommuting in case of a public health emergency like this. Take the time to figure out who will stay home if schools are closed and who will do the care giving if flu strikes your family. Follow all news alerts, including those posted by CDC and your school district.
